Cash is 3 months old (or 13 weeks - however you want to look at it!)

On Saturday, Cash was 13 weeks old. He is a pretty happy baby most of the time. He is rolling alot and actually rolled off the couch again the other day. I was standing right next to him, but he is just so quick! Note to self, do not let baby lie on any surface other than the floor if your hands are not on him. Poor guy is gonna have a head injury before he turns 1. Anyway, he is consistently sleeping for at least 6 hours a night, sometimes even 7. He is trying to grab at his toys now and he is really giggling a lot. Everybody was right, it just keeps getting better and better!

Trump Tower

My husband surpised me with staying at Trump Tower in downtown Chicago this past weekend. It was amazing. Our view was awesome, as you can see above. I took these pictures from our window at dusk. He also surprised me with champagne and strawberries - I'm pretty sure he was trying to charm me! It was so fun and so nice to stay somewhere besides his corporate apartment. The service was excellent as to be expected. The best part I thought, besides the view, was that they made up a little crib for Cash with his own bath stuff and a little rubber ducky! It was so cute, and Cash thoroughly enjoyed his bath in Trump's sink! However, I don't think Mr. Trump is going to appreciate the fact that Cash pooped through his diaper when he was in bed with us and it got on the sheets. OOPS! :)

Cash takes his first flight

Cash had his first flight last Thursday. We flew to Chicago to see friends and visit Jeff's workplace. Cash did really good on the way to Chicago - he didn't fuss at all. People were kind of giving us the eye when we were getting on the plane, and then when they were getting off everyone was saying how cute he was. They only were nice because he was quiet on the flight. Oh well, I used to be one of those people before I had kids too! :) I didnt get a very good picture, but the one above is of him sitting in his seat on the airplane. I took his mirror with us on the flight, because all he likes to do anymore is look at himself. When we got to Chicago, we had to rig up our own "mobile" using a hangar and the chair with the mirror so he could entertain himself!

Cash is 12 weeks old!

On Saturday, Cash turned 12 weeks old. It got me thinking, and maybe I am just dumb, but he was born on a Saturday 12 weeks ago, yet he doesn't actually turn 3 months until the 24th of August. How is that? I know it doesn't really matter, it just doesn't make much sense to me. I'm sure I probably just have mommy brain! :) Speaking of mommy - I think that I get the mother of the year award. On Friday morning, I accidentally let my child roll right off of a chair. I was standing right next to him trying to put on the baby bjorn and he just rolled off the chair. He stopped crying as soon as I picked him up, and the chair was pretty low to the ground, so I'm pretty sure that there was no real injury, but man did I feel bad. I guess he's got some extra padding with weighing 15 pounds 10 ounces and all! Anyway, I guess I can't take my hand off him now when he's not on the floor! Geez he's growing so fast!

Cash went to his first birthday party!

On Saturday we went to a friend's child's birthday party! We had a lot of fun - it was exciting to see what I have to look forward to with my little guy! All of the kids there had a blast, including Cash. As you can see, he was getting a little fresh with his friend Aubrey! :) I thought it was adorable. They even have the head tilt going on!

Cash and Eli

On Friday, my friend Angela came over with her son Eli. We had a great afternoon - the boys got to play and us mommies got to have a nice quiet lunch and do a little shopping while they stayed at home. Cash and Eli are only 10 days apart! It will be fun to watch them grow and it is always great to have a friend to talk to that knows exactly what you are going through! We are looking forward to having many more playdates in the future!

Five Generations

When I was back in South Dakota we finally had the opportunity to take pictures of the 5 generations of the women in our family. Thats pretty awesome when you think about it! My Great Grandma Sophie is 94, I think, and my Grandma Jan is in her early 70's. I feel very blessed that my son got to meet these amazing women and hope that he gets to spend a lot more time with both of them!

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzz

I can't believe it! He finally did it! Last night, Cash slept from 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM. It was soooooo AWESOME!!! Again, like I posted previously, I am probably jinxing myself by talking about it, but it was just so dang exciting! Hopefully he will do it again tonight! :)

My baby rolled over!

I can't believe it! Yesterday morning he rolled from his back to his tummy, but he was laying next to me on my bed, so I thought that it was more of a fluke since he kind of rolled down hill. Then yesterday afternoon I went to pick him up from his crib, and he was laying on his tummy! I know that I laid him down on his back! I can't believe that he is such a big boy all ready! Before I know it, he is going to be sitting up on his own! Wow time flies! It kind of makes me sad. I miss him being a little baby, not that he was ever really that small! :)

Cash is 11 weeks old!

Cash is now 11 weeks old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone! He is so big, although he has slowed down with his weight gain. This week he only gained 2 ounces, making him 15 pounds 5 ounces. He is laughing and smilling so much, which I just love. We are still trying to get adjusted to having a schedule, and we are having the most trouble with nap time. He has started to sleep a lot better at night though, and has slept for at least a 6 hour stretch the last 2 nights. I probably just jinxed myself by saying that! He got a new toy yesterday that has a mirror on it. He was so infatuated with looking at himself it was great! He smiled and talked to himself for probably about a half and hour.
I tried to get a picture of it, but he has already seemed to have learned to look at the camera. I think that he likes the flash! This was my attempt! The orange flower looking thing is actually the mirror.

Chris Cagle concert

Friday night we went to the Chris Cagle concert at free Friday night concerts at Crown Center.

We took Cash, thinking that since it was outside, we could get far enough back so that it wouldn't be too loud. Well, we sat all the way in the back, but it was still pretty loud. The little guy slept through the whole thing though and never even made a peep! It was a fun night out for us! The best part about the whole evening was that we ran into our friends Korey and Monica. I saw them sitting in front of us, and instead of saying anything to them, I just jumped in front of them with the camera. Thus the picture below!

The weather was beautiful, the music was good, and the company was the best! It was a great night!

Trying to Establish a Routine

So, with our doctor's appointment last week, as well as the fact that my child no longer fits into any of his clothes, I have decided to try to put him on more of a routine. The doctor recommended that I stop demand feeding Cash and let him only eat every few hours. He has a point, the kid does weigh 15 pounds and he's only 10 weeks old. So, this week I started to only feed him every 3 hours, which is typical for kids his age, or so I have read. Man, does he get mad. Yesterday, I had to give in and feed him after 2 1/2 hours, because I couldn't take it anymore. Usually I can divert his attention, but not yesterday. I am also trying to get him to go to sleep in his crib at night without my assistance. This he brought on himself, as he wakes up and wails every time I lay him down. This too is very hard, and I have even cried myself while he is crying and gone through a very large bottle of wine. I know, or at least hope, that in the long run it is going to make everyone's life easier, but it is so dang hard right now. I also think that getting him into more of a routine will help us be able to get him to take a bottle a little easier. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them, as well as maybe a little reassurance that I'm not a bad mom and this isn't going to cost me millions in therapy later in his life! :) Have a good weekend every one!

Andrew Reise Consulting BBQ

It's raining babies at Andrew Reise. The Haskins were kind enough to host a BBQ at their place on Friday and we got a chance to meet all of the new babies and see some old friends! This is John and he is about a month younger than Cash, but I am pretty sure that he can hold his own! I see lots of wrestling in their future!

These are the newest arrivals! Maya was born two days before Cash, John about a month after Cash, and then little Lilly on the end was born a couple of weeks ago. There are also 2 more babies on the way! WOW!

This is Cash and his girlfriend Aubrey. He likes the older ladies! :) There are some older kids as well, that we certainly don't want to leave out, however I just didn't quite capture them on film! It was so fun seeing them all together and swapping stories with the other mommies. We can't wait to meet the upcoming arrivals too!

Cash is 10 weeks old

We had Cash's 2 month check up on Friday and got his shots. That was not fun at all! He is a healthy boy though - I even got the lecture about not feeding him whenever he wants to eat, and making him get on more of a schedule! At 15 pounds and 3 ounces, he is in the 95th percentile for weight and 87th percentile for height!

Fun new things for Cash!

Today we went over to my friend Danielle's house and played with her little boy Rocco, who just turned 2. He was so good with Cash, and Cash was thoroughly entertained by all of his activity!
This picture cracks me up, because it looks like Cash just might be a Sumo wrestler one day! Maybe Jeff's side of the family has some Asian in it!

Cash finally got to sit in his bumbo seat last night! He is a little too young, but I thought we would give it a try! He liked it and I got a good laugh at his little head bobbing around a bit! :) Auntie Amy was over and they got to snuggle a little bit, and I thought that this picture was way too cute! We are still trying to get the little man to take a bottle, so if anybody has some helpful hints, I would love some more ideas! Have a great weekend!
